Vintage 1960's-1970's Couture Fabrics
Ferndinando Sarmi Collection: Gorgeous and one of a kind fabrics from France, Italy and England. Includes stunning tinsel and cellophane lace, retro wool, silks, embroidered velvets, and lamé fabrics.
These fabulous fabrics were purchased during the 1960's-early 1970's by Count Ferdinando Sarmi, a European/New York Couture Designer. After several years of working with Elizabeth Arden, he opened his own boutique in New York. At the height of his career, he received the honorable Coty Award for designer fashion and was well known for his haute couture and ready to wear apparel. He would travel to Europe to purchase many of his wonderful and expensive fabrics and was especially known for his exquisite and extravagant hand beaded creations and divine evening gowns and dresses. When his business closed, all his dresses, fabrics, trims, and accessories were purchased by a New York gentleman, who later moved to Ohio. His dream to utilize these magnificent items, never came to fruition and were stored for over 50 to 60 years. In 2006, we were fortunate to acquire these amazing and gorgeous fabrics and trims.
